Colorway Goes Yard!

Hey gang,

Some fun shows coming up this month, including a set tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 1, opening for legendary rockers, The Yardbirds!

We opened for these guys two years ago when the new lineup was actually new. But that was a long time ago and we are excited to be playing a bunch of tunes in this set which will be on our next album!
The current lineup of the Yardbirds features original drummer and founding member, Jim McCarty along with ace guitarist, Johnny A, bassist extraordinaire, Kenny Aaronson, singer/harpist/percussionist Myke Scavone and guitarist/singer John Idan. There are still a few tickets to the show left but they’re going fast. We can’t wait to put it all out there at 7pm sharp! So if you want to catch Colorway definitely make sure you get there early (doors/dinner at 5:30).

This coming Saturday, Nov 4 I’ll be doing a set of solo stuff at Healy Guitars in the Eastworks building in Easthampton, MA as part of their open studios. There are a ton of performers over two days. Check the details below for the full schedule but I’ll play from 1pm to 2pm. Trevor Healy is an amazing luthier and is where I take all my guitars for repair. He has a great line of axes he makes in house. Definitely a fun place to go, poke around and take in the sawdust.

As many of you know I host the open mic night at Brew Practitioners in downtown Florence on Wednesday nights from 7-10pm. Well, on Wednesday, November 8 there will be a special addition to the event. From 5-7pm come on out for a “group sing” featuring me on guitar and you on vocals. No musical experience necessary, just a love of good times and an appreciation of music in general. There will be lyric sheets passed out and the event is open to all. This is funded in part by the Northampton Arts Council and Senior Services. We’ll have the open mic right after the group sing. I’ve done this before and it was a great time!

Thursday, November 16 sees our return to Whetstone Station in Brattleboro, VT. We’ve played Whetstone twice now and it is always a great time. Have some ribs, a burger or a delicious salad and some craft beers or seltzers and hang out. The show is free and all ages. We will play one, mammoth two hour set beginning at 8:30pm.

On Sunday, November 19 I‘ll be playing guitar with the Young at Heart Chorus for their annual mash-up at the Academy of Music. You can find more info on that show right here.

That should just about close out November for me and the band. We can’t wait to get into the studio next month. We’ll be working with Danny Bernini on the upcoming album will be recording at Spirithouse Studios right here in Northampton. Check in with us on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

Thanks for being along for this crazy ride. We couldn’t do it without you, the fans. And if you wanted to help out the cause we’d love it if you could share this email/blog/update with folks who might not know who we are yet. That would be so cool.

Stay warm everyone, and Happy Halloween!!!

From the IHEG site:

To the casual music fan, The Yardbirds are best known as the band that honed the skills of future “guitar gods” Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page; and for their slew of chart hits, including “For Your Love,” “Heart Full of Soul”, “I’m A Man”, and “Over Under Sideways Down”. Led by core members and songwriters Jim McCarty (drums), Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar/bass) and the late Keith Relf (vocals/harmonica), the band’s experimental explorations also provided the crucial link between British R&B, Psychedelic Rock, and Heavy Metal, while pioneering the use of innovations like fuzz tone, feedback and distortion.  In 2015, Jim McCarty debuted the new touring line-up of The Yardbirds, consisting of lead guitarist Johnny A, bassist Kenny Aaronson, singer / harpist / percussionist Myke Scavone, and guitarist / singer John Idan to rave reviews. As Goldmine Magazine stated, “the band’s hallmark of top-notch musicianship remains. There are no passengers in this band.”
